By Felix Moesner, Director - Consul, swissnex Boston
Welcome to the newest initiative from swissnex Boston! Established as a satellite office of swissnex Boston in Manhattan, the New York Outpost (NYO) pursues the overall mission of connecting the dots between Switzerland and North America in science, education and innovation, with a focus on the Greater New York City. Led by Senior Project Leader Pierre Dorsaz, the former swissnex Boston Project Leader for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the NYO supports young Swiss entrepreneurs, researchers and academics looking to integrate into the Silicon Alley and expand their activities to North America.
Working in close collaboration with the Consulate General of Switzerland in New York and back by the Sate Secretariat of Education, Research and Innovation SERI, the Commission for Technology and Innovation CTI and ETH Domain in Switzerland, we are very excited to explore this fast-paced innovation ecosystem and continue to connect the dots swissnex style.
New York is the major economic, financial and cultural center of the United States. It is redefining its current business model to become one of North America’s most attractive destinations for entrepreneurial and tech activities. Various initiatives by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, including NYC Tech campus on Roosevelt Island and the Tech Start-Up Investment Fund, underline this commitment to become the fastest-growing digital-technology hub.
Today, New York has over
1,800 tech companies and continues to attract new talents every day.
Seeing the promise in the flourishing ecosystem, more and more Swiss
entrepreneurs and researchers call for a platform to support their New
York initiatives. Together with swissnex Boston, the New York Outpost
will strive to be a strong North American platform for Switzerland in
the science, education and innovation sectors.
We invite you to join us on our journey in New York and help us promote Switzerland as a leader in science, technology and innovation.
