What did you do before coming to swissnex?
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management from HEC Lausanne, also did an exchange year at the University of St. Gallen. After graduating I completed several internships but mostly in the French speaking part of Switzerland. So I am extremely happy to be in New York now.
Was it your first time in New York?
No actually I was here five years ago but only to visit. I loved it so much and I always wanted to come back for a longer period of time, so now here I am. It is a totally different experience to actually live here but so far so good.
What is your internship position at swissnex?
I am Junior Project manager therefore I work with Oliver Haugen. I participate in organizing events, go to networking events that are related to the swissnex mission, and help maintain individual mandates from many organizations.
At the same time I am an HEC Lausanne ambassador so I engage the New York Alumni community and promote the faculty in the New York area.
What a typical day would be like at the New York outpost?
I would say that there is actually no typical day because we work on many different projects. The constant change is also what make this job exciting.
The New York Outpost is located in a co-working space, what is the ambiance like?
Oliver and I but there is also Lukas Sieber from the Greater Zurich area, Starmind used to be here as well. We also have startups visiting. Last week we had Roman Gaus from Urbanfarmers. I actually love working in this kind of environment because we are all working separately but all together at the same time. It is much enjoyable to have people around than alone in a big office.
Do you have any specific things you want to do or achieve while you are in New York?
Related to swissnex I am definitely excited to get to know more about the start-up scene that is becoming popular in New York and improving networking skills.
